The world premiere of Mikko Nisula’s Sinfonia Concertante Op. 24, “Odysseia” for clarinet and orchestra was performed to a critical acclaim by clarinetist Lauri Sallinen and Saimaa Sinfonietta under direction of Sasha Mäkilä. Etelä-Saimaa newspaper called the piece a “bullseye” and continued: “Nisula’s Homeric adventure served us a delicious synthesis of the modern tonal language, and both Mäkilä and clarinetist Lauri Sallinen did an excellent job with it.”
